Sorel was an early pioneer in interactive advertising and web development and has been developing, participating in and managing online social interactions since the early 1990s.

In 1994, she founded an interactive advertising group within a traditional agency, Margeotes Fertitta + Partners, in New York. There she launched the original Stoli.com web site for Stolichnaya Vodka, which included a competitive community games component.

Her participation and leadership in online communities began with Mindvox in the early 90s, and continued on the Well for more than a decade.

From there, she became creative director at Organic, Inc. in San Francisco. In 1998, she launched the still-thriving GirlSpace.com: an online community for Kotex brands targeted to tween and teen girls. As award-winning creative director for SF Interactive, she developed online advertising campaigns for communities such as BabyCenter.com.

Currently, she is working with a number of organizations and businesses to define and implement effective strategies for engaging on the social web. Her clients include the California Academy of Sciences, the San Francisco Marathon, The Big Rumble, Conference Hound, Green Made Simple, and others. In addition, she is a bit obsessed with sustainable food production and maintains a Facebook page with a thriving community focused on community-supported agriculture.
